HSHS St. Francis Hospital announced on Mar. 26 that applications are open for its 2026 Junior Volunteer Program, inviting area teens to volunteer during the summer months.
The program offers high school students an opportunity to gain experience by assisting in various hospital departments while fulfilling community service hours. Organizers say the initiative aims to encourage local youth engagement and support hospital operations during the busy summer period.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 14 years old by June 1, maintain a minimum “C” average in school, and commit to volunteering at least two hours per week throughout the program. Duties will vary depending on departmental needs within the hospital.
Interested students can access registration materials online and must submit their applications by May 1. All participants are required either to show proof of COVID immunization or have a parent sign a declination form provided in the application packet. Attendance at a hospital orientation session is also mandatory for selected volunteers.
A limited number of positions are available this year, and further information can be obtained by contacting HSHS St. Francis Hospital at 217-324-8200.
