Pana Community Hospital adds pulmonologist Dr. Omar Abdulfattah to expand specialty care

Pana Community Hospital has announced that Dr. Omar Abdulfattah, MD, a board-certified pulmonologist, will be joining its medical staff. Dr. Abdulfattah specializes in pulmonary disease, critical care, and sleep medicine.

He has extensive training in diagnosing and treating respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung infections, emphysema, and sleep-related breathing disorders. Dr. Abdulfattah completed his medical degree at DOW Medical College, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowships in Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. He holds board certifications in all three specialties.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Abdulfattah is an Assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine where he participates in teaching and mentoring medical students.

“Bringing specialty care to our rural communities is an important part of our mission,” said Trina Casner, President and CEO. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Abdulfattah and expand access to high-quality pulmonary care for our patients.”

Dr. Abdulfattah is currently accepting new patients at Pana Community Hospital through a partnership with SIU Medicine; he is not employed directly by the hospital. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (217) 562-6283.
