City of Carlinville City Council met June 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

PRESENT: Alderman Brockmeier, Alderman Downey, Alderman Koller, Alderman Link, Alderman McClain, Alderman Ober, Alderman Oswald, Mayor Deanna Demuzio, City Attorney Dan O’Brien, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, City Treasurer/Budget Officer Jody Reichmann, Police Chief Haley, Woodard & Curran Representative Dan Held, Zoning Administrator Steve Parr Absent: Alderman Campbell

Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Ober to approve minutes, seconded by Link, motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Budget Officers Report/Treasurer’s Report/Police Report/Bills/Approval of Lake Bills/Lake Adhoc Bills/Lake Watershed - Motion made to approve all listed by Alderman McClain, seconded by Koller, motion passed unanimously.

Correspondence - None

Public Comment

The mayor recognized Randy and Mary Tinder for their work landscaping at the train station. She also thanked all of the new aldermen for their work to beautify Carlinville.

Alderman Oswald remined all of the Aldermen that we needed to know by Friday, if they were going to the IML Conference in Chicago.

Old Business

IARWC Update – None, Alderman Campbell was absent.

Squad Replacement – Council voted to replace two squad cars with two 2019 Dodge Pick-Up trucks. The price each is $24,731.00 for a total of $49,462.00. This amount has been budgeted in the police budget. A motion was made by Alderman Downey to approve, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Additional Employees – Lake/Motion was made by Alderman Downey, seconded by McClain to hire two additional summer help employees to work through Labor Day, mainly to mow at the lake. Discussion took place regarding if they were budgeted, it was never determined without further research. Downey and McClain then rescinded their motions. Budget Officer Reichmann will look into it further with Alderman Downey.

New Business

Zoning Advisory Report – Hartsook/ 300 Rt. 4 South will be rezoned from single family residential to neighborhood commercial and vacate a portion of Old Woodside South, after a motion was made by Alderman Oswald to approve the zoning advisory report, seconded by Koller, motion passed unanimously.

Ordinance Vacating Part of Old Woodside Drive – First Read Ordinance Rezoning 300 Rt. 4 South – First Read

Special Meeting for City Council Ordinance Updates – Attorney O’Brien called a special city council meeting for presentation of ordinance updates and changes by Frank Heiligenstein – Illinois Codification Services. The meeting will be held June 24th at 6:00 pm.

Executive Session – Litigation - tabled

Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Downey at 7:26 p.m., seconded by Ober motion passed unanimously.
