Volleyball Splits Blast Tournament in Wisconsin

Blackburn’s Women’s Volleyball traveled to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater this past weekend to play their first tournament of the season. Blackburn played two games in the Blast Tournament and came home with one win and one loss. 

In their first game against Ripon College, Blackburn suffered a tough loss 3-0. The Beavers ended the three set game with 28 kills, six of those from senior Elizabeth Bowyer. Ripon succeeded with their 46 kills being led by Inesha Wiseman with 18 of those 46 kills. The Beavers continued to fight throughout their day by clinching a win in their next game against Rockford shortly after their loss. 

The Beavers did not hesitate to fight in the beginning of this game, coming out with fire and energy. The Beavers were led by Sophomore Jessica Muckensturm, who had eight kills. Senior Autumn Wilson finished with 28 assists. Blackburn did not give Rockford an opportunity to get back into this game. The Beavers finished the game with 35 kills and six blocks. 

Blackburn hopes to ride on their momentum from this match as they will host Knox College for their next match on Thursday, September 8th. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
