Breese Fire Protection District responded to 57 calls in 2017 - 32.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Breese included 19 fires - 10 structure fires, four vehicle fires and five other fires.

In all, the department saw $86,400 in fire loss - or about $4,547 per fire.

The department also received 38 false calls, including one malicious call and 37 other false calls.

The Breese Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $702,034 in 2017.
