Taylorville Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Nov. 26.
As construction continues on the new building at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, employees were able to celebrate a significant milestone – the last of the steel beams being hoisted into place, signifying the completion of the steel framing.
A beam was set aside for employees to sign and over 150 signatures were collected. Many employees also added their years of service at the hospital or other notes and tributes.
On October 31, in front of a crowd of approximately 100 people, the beam was lifted into place, an American flag waving from the top.
Next up, crews will continue to lay the flooring and begin work on enclosing the structure. Tenting may be needed to ensure work can continue on the outside during the winter months.
