Jackson discussed with Cultural Society and Walsh with Kaskaskia College the use of empty downtown store front windows to promote Centralia events with a two-fold positive outcome, 1) promote tourism through local activities and events, and 2) improve City appearance and detract from empty sites. The City Hall Locust Street window was discussed as a trial window.
Committee members’ individual photos will be taken at Stuehmeier’s business; she will then share them with the Committee.
Exterior tourism related options for the trolley were reviewed along with a wrap and decal quote. Several have asked to rent the trolley for personal use; Commissioners felt charter use would be a good idea, but additional research would be needed and requested a special meeting to review and prepare a proposal for charter rentals. Commissioners will participate in the 4th of July parade with the trolley and distribute trolley and tourism information.
Upcoming events were discussed, these are shared on the SeeCentralia website and Facebook page along with IllinoiSouth and agencies and group pages, and is sent as an email blast to those who signed up during the Home, Garden and Business Expo.
