Q4 2019 Recap: Parolees in Salem convicted of crimes involving weapons

There were three offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons released on parole in Salem during the fourth quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the South Central Reporter.

The data shows that three men were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons was 25. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 31-year-old man sentenced in 2016.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Anthony Hayes. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2019 when he was 21 years old. He is now 22.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
