City of Breese issued the following announcement on July 9.
For each of the six counties I serve(Clinton, Monroe, Perry, Randolph, St. Clair, and Washington), there will be a contest among the cities/villages/organizations in each county to use art to increase census participation for the week of July 13-17, 2020. Some examples include:
chalk art on sidewalks
posters or paintings on storefronts/windows, etc.
Children's art regarding any aspect of the census
Computer generated graphic art
Any art ideas using any medium
The purpose of this activity is to encourage completion of the census before mid-August when the Non-Response Follow-Up Team of the Census will be going door to door to over 10 million households across the country.
The contest is simple. Send me a picture of your art by Thursday July 16 at 3 p.m. An impartial judge will select winners from each county. From the email list above I have included many of your counties' cities/villages. If you find some I may have missed please forward this to them or let me know and I will send it.
Hopefully many of you can participate. Thanks for all you do to promote the census. Remember the deadline to complete the census has been extended until October 31, 2020, so there is time to get a complete county of your area.
Let me know if you have questions.
