Bartelso School District 57 Board of Education met May 19.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
President, Jill Daugherty called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present to roll call were Board Members, Jill Daugherty, Jill Spihlmann, Jaime Becker, Mark Toennies, Eric Varel, Tanya Loepker and Michael Schlautman. Also present was Superintendent, Tom Siegler and Recording Secretary Shelly Winning.
Teacher representatives were Laura Hoerchler and Shelby Brandmeyer.
Superintendents Report:
Our 8th grade Graduation will be held in the courtyard between the school and the church at 6:00 p.m. with a parade to follow.
On Wednesday May 26, 2021 we will have Field day at the park in the morning then a picnic lunch on the school grounds, after lunch we have relay activities and 4th – 7th will go bowling.
Mr. Sigler has sent out information to the parents about the return of their child/children’s chrome books, chargers, cases, mice and headphones by Tuesday May 25, 2021.
Mr. Feldman will have the library open on Wednesdays from 10:00 to Noon starting June 9th.
Mrs. Tasker and Mrs. Kunz will be the primary tutors this summer and we have 24 children signed up, it will start Wednesday June 9th and end July 14th.

Motion by Mark Toennies, seconded by Eric Varel to approve the Board meeting dates and times for FY22; Jaime Becker, yea; Mark Toennies, yea; Eric Varel, yea; Tanya Loepker, yea; Michael Schlautman, yea; Jill Daugherty, yea; Jill Spihlmann, yea; 7 yeas; 0 nays. Motion carried.
Motion by Jaime Becker, seconded by Mark Toennies to approve the resolution for adequate public transportation; Mark Toennies, yea; Eric Varel, yea; Tanya Loepker, yea; Michael Schlautman, yea; Jill Daugherty, yea; Jill Spihlmann, yea; Jaime Becker, yea. 7 yeas; 0 nays. Motion carried.
President Jill Daugherty opened the floor to nominate a board member as the KSED Governing Board for FY 22. Board Member Jaime Becker offered to take the position for another year.
Motion by Jill Spihlmann, seconded by Mark Toennies to approve Jaime Becker to serve on the KSED Governing Board for FY22; Eric Varel, yea; Tanya Loepker, yea; Michael Schlautman, yea; Jill Daugherty, yea; Jill Spihlmann, yea; Jaime Becker, yea; Mark Toennies, yea. 7 yeas; 0 nays. Motion carried.
Motion by Jaime Becker, seconded by Eric Varel to approve hiring Jessica Hughes as Middle School Math Teacher pending proper ISBE licensure, Tanya Loepker, yea; Michael Schlautman, yea; Jill Daugherty, yea; Jill Spihlmann, yea; Jaime Becker, yea; Mark Toennies, yea; Eric Varel, yea. 7 yea, 0 nays. Motion carried.
Mr. Siegler informed the board that Bob Gerdes has been donating his time for the past 4 years as our Golf Coach. Mr. Siegler asked if the board would agree to pay a stipend to Bob Gerdes going forward with coaching our golf team. It was agreed to pay him the same as the Cheerleading/Bowling stipends.

Items for discussion:
Summer office hours will be Monday – Thursday 8:00 – 3:00 starting Monday June 7th, 2021.
The Amended Budget Hearing will be on June 16, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.
