City of Centralia Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met Oct. 13

City of Centralia Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met Oct. 13.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Agee, Young, Pracht, Graham, and Lawson

CRC Ex Director Germann

CRC – Allen

City – Harting

Youth – Williams

Absent: Patton and Garrett

Public Participation: None

Approval of Minutes: Calvin Lawson made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and Young seconded. Motion carried with unanimously.

Treasurers Report: Report was given by Harting. Gayla reported that only interest was added to both accounts and no expenses reported. George Pracht asked what part of the report our Budget is. He asked if the Committee could have a copy of the Budget and Gayla stated she would ask the City Manager. Jack Graham made a motion to approve and Young seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Monthly Reports:

1. CRD report

a. Scott Allen reported that Outdoor Soccer will be finishing on October 22nd. It has gone very smoothly.

b. Scott reported the Jr High regionals went very well.

c. State Baseball and Softball tournament had a record high in attendance on Saturday. The gate proceeds were $14,424.15. This year the first $3800.00 went to pay the umpires and the remaining balance was split between the City of Centralia and SIJHSAA.

d. Scott reported we have 2 UTrip tournaments scheduled for next year. He would like to schedule another one, but they are looking for dates.

e. Scott reported that the Bag League finished with four teams. There was a suggestion of wanting another league for this winter and wondered if it could be held at local bar establishments.

f. Scott reported that we have 3 Super Sonic teams registered for Girls Softball Traveling teams.

g. Scott stated that we are leaving up the batting cages until November due to the number of individuals still using them.

2. Youth Center

a. Herb reported the Flag Football team is going great. They are playing in the Clinton League. They will be playing again in the Spring league and hopefully will have more teams.

b. Herb reported that on October 22nd they will be hosting a Trunk n Treat event. They will have laser tag and bounce houses.

c. November 19th from 6:00pm -10:30pm they will host the Night of Blues at Castle ridge. Tickets will be $65.00 which will include a Dinner and Band. You can reserve a table of 8through the Youth Center.

3. City Report

a. Gayla thanked Jack, Scott, and George for helping with the Fall Bash at Fairview Park.

b. Gayla reported that the scrubs have been removed and tilled up per George request.

Old Business: None

New Business:

1. George Pracht made a motion for Gayla to ask the City Manager for a copy of the CRD budget so the committee will have an idea of how much funds would be available for projects. Irene Young seconded the motion and motion passed unanimously.

2. George Pracht wanted to Thank the City workers for the work done on the Pavilion by Tennis courts.

3. George Pracht asked if a Go Fund Me Page could be established and used for playground equipment. Gayla stated that there is a meeting scheduled on the 19th for Laura Leeke Park and invited anyone to come. They will be discussing projects and a lay out for the park. Pracht stated that there are COVID funds available for communities.

4. The committee discussed scheduling a day to visit all the Parks that the committee is responsible for. They decided to meet on Oct 14th at 1:00 at Laura Leeke. George asked, if possible, could Terry attend the meetings. Gayla stated she would ask and see if he would be available.

5. Herb mentioned the Youth City had applied for a Grant through the City and has not heard of any results. The budget was again discussed and in hopes of getting a copy. Jack stated that this committee is only an Advisory committee.

6. Calvin Lawson asked why no one from this Committee was not on the new Pool Committee. He felt that someone should represent the committee.

Adjournment:

Dave Agee made the motion to adjourn, and Calvin Lawson seconded the motion. The motion carried.

The next meeting will be November10th at noon hosted at the Rail.
