Q1 2022 Recap: 7 parolees from Marion County convicted of property crimes set for release

There were seven offenders convicted of property crimes living in Marion County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the South Central Reporter.

The data shows six men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for property crimes was 35. The youngest parolee was a 31-year-old man sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 67-year-old man sentenced in 2013.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was William F. Gegan. He was convicted in 2013 when he was 57 years old. He is now 67.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of property crimes were paroled during the first quarter of 2022 in each Illinois county.
