Report: Central City spent $6,735 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Central City School District 133 is down 16 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Marion County school district spent $8,000 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $6,735 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 265 to 310.

Central City's spending in 2016-17 was 48 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
