Report: Breese spent $6,345 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Breese Elementary School District 12 is down 16 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Clinton County school district spent $7,546 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $6,345 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 659 to 639.

Breese's spending in 2016-17 was 51 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
