Report: Gillespie spent $8,933 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Gillespie Community Unit School District 7 is up 7 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Macoupin County school district spent $8,327 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,933 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1349 to 1342.

Gillespie's spending in 2016-17 was 31 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
