Sugar Creek TWP FPD responds to 17 fires in 2017

Sugar Creek Township Fire Protection District responded to 28 calls in 2017 - 16.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Sugar Creek included 17 fires - nine structure fires, three vehicle fires and five other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $27,610 in fire loss - or about $1,624 per fire.

The department also received 10 false calls, including one malicious call and nine other false calls.
