Farina Fire Protection District responded to 27 calls in 2017 - 58.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Farina included 26 fires - seven structure fires, two vehicle fires and 17 other fires.

In all, the department saw $33,000 in fire loss - or about $1,269 per fire.

The department also received one false call, including one malicious call.

The Farina Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $77,739 in 2017.
