Coffeen Fire Protection District responded to 13 calls in 2017 - 116.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Coffeen included 12 fires - four structure fires, one vehicle fire and seven other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $23,000 in fire loss - or about $1,917 per fire.

The Coffeen Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $57,648 in 2017.
