It was a long hot weekend of campaigning in the 48th District for Republican candidate Seth McMillan.

Amid almost triple-digit temperatures, McMillan, who is running against incumbent Sen. Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) for the 48th Senate District seat, was at the Macoupin County Fair Friday night and the Assumption and Raymond parades on Saturday. He concluded the weekend campaigning with an appearance in Rochester.

When the candidate is not canvassing his district discussing state matters, he is working with his employees, he said in a Facebook post on July 3.

“I’m working with my Crew. Some of these guys have worked with my family business since the beginning,” McMillan said in the post. “Springfield needs people who have had real world [sic] work experience. My opponent has spent his entire career in politics.”

McMillan spent the Independence Day holiday in Taylorville for the community’s parade.

“Great turnout for the Taylorville Independence Day parade,” he said. “Thanks to all of our volunteers.”
