Illinois Senate candidate Seth McMillan blames incumbent Sen. Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) for the state’s rising taxes and current fiscal predicament.
“My opponent voted for Mike Madigan’s 32 [percent] income tax hike and he wants to raise taxes again on hard-working people in the 48th,” McMillan recently posted on Facebook.
The post was accompanied by a video of Fox 32 Vice President and General Manager Dennis Welsh discussing the state's tax burden and property tax rates.
Sen. Andy Manar
McMillan is running against Manar for Illinois’ 48th Senate District and has spent much of his time on the campaign trail blasting the senator as a “failed” lawmaker who has lost the confidence of his constituents “and turned to his Chicago sugar daddies like J.B. Pritzker to bankroll his campaign.”
In contrast, McMillan, a small-business owner, has vowed to give back as much as 50 percent of his government salary.
McMillan also raved on Facebook about the Illinois State Fair Twilight Parade.
“It was a beautiful evening with great friends, great food and lots of fun meeting new folks attending the Illinois State Fair,” he stated.
The 48th Senate District includes parts of Central Illinois, Springfield, Decatur, Christian County, Madison County and Montgomery County.
