Central A&M Community Unit School District 21 students suspended 69 times in a single school year

Central A&M Community Unit School District 21 reported 69 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 69 students during the year. That equates to 9.1 percent of the 762 students enrolled.

Of the 67 in-school suspensions, 52 were given to boys and 15 were given to girls, including 36 elementary or middle schoolers and 31 high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes 36 incidents. There were 29 incidents of unspecified reasons. For 31 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes one incidents. There were one incidents of unspecified reasons. For two incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
