Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 16.
‘Tis the season! Watch out for delivery scams! (Especially if you didn’t order a package!)
- Don’t call the number printed on postcards. If it is USPS, UPS, or FedEx they will just deliver your package the next business day. Or look up delivery company’s number to see if it is the same as the postcard.
- Don’t click links in email, especially if the “From” email doesn’t match the company. Instead, open a separate browser window and go directly to their site or the store’s website you ordered from. (Red flag: if you didn’t order something, it is probably a scam.)
- If you see something questionable, do some research! Don’t just share, click, or call, because “What if it is true?”
Scams want to get information, aggressively sell something, or invade computers with viruses.
Be careful and have a Merry Christmas!
