City of Carlinville City Council met Oct. 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

PRESENT: Alderman Bilbruck, Alderman Brockmeier, Alderman Campbell, Alderman Direso, Alderman Downey, Alderman Toon, Mayor Deanna Demuzio, City Attorney Dan O’Brien, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, City Treasurer/Budget Officer Jody Reichmann, Police Officer Asa Bentley, Woodard and Curran Representative Dan Held, Absent: Alderman Heigert, Alderman Oswald, Zoning Administrator Steve Parr,

Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Downey to approve minutes, seconded by Direso, motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Bills/Approval of Lake Bills/Lake Adhoc Bills/Lake Watershed - Motion to approve bills was made by Alderman Campbell, seconded by Direso, motion passed unanimously.

Correspondence

SS Mary and Joseph Church

Both pieces of correspondence were approved and placed on file after a motion was made by Alderman Downey, seconded by Direso, motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment

John Howard commented on how pleased he was that after the merger between Bates Motors and Bruckert Daley, that Victory Lane Ford was able to purchase the former Daley building and bring their dealership along with Dick Drew as manager to Carlinville.

Alderman Direso announced that due to the Chamber Dinner on the 9th of October, the Public Works meeting will be moved to the 10th of October for this month only at 5:15 pm before the Public Safety meeting.

New Business

New Culverts/ Jacob Lane/Locust Street – Discussion took place regarding replacing both culverts on Jacob Lane and Locust Street, it was decided the most immediate attention is needed on Locust Street. Decision was made to replace the Locust Street culvert, with a price not to exceed 6,000.00, after a motion was made by Alderman Direso, seconded by Bilbruck, motion passed unanimously. Dan Held will check with the contractor regarding plastic vs. metal wall pipe for the Locust Street project. Jacob Lane culvert will be sent back to Public Works committee for further discussion.

Possible Extension of Sewer Line Beyond MJM/Shipman Road – Discussion of extension of the sewer line on Shipman Road to the new MJM site took place. We will be extending lines to MJM’s new site, discussion took place regarding going further south for future expansion and development in the area. Price of $3,635.00 would extend another 573’ allowing for future expansion. That would not include labor, Dan Held will look further into using the city’s labor vs. bidding labor out. A motion was originally made by Alderman Direso, seconded by Campbell to approve the $3,635.00, motions were later rescinded after more discussion took place, regarding the price, plus labor. At this time item will be placed on the Public Works Committee agenda, no action took place.

Executive Session - Litigation - tabled

Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Downey at 7:33 p.m., seconded by Campbell motion

passed unanimously.
