Taylorville Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Dec. 26.
The Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation (TMH Foundation) proudly accepted a donation to its CUPS fund from the employees of Tax Tech, Inc.; Credit Collection Partners; and Hickman Specha Steiner & Beckley LLP in Taylorville.
Marcy Hadden of Tax Tech, Inc. coordinated the company’s fundraiser by setting aside a “pink day” for employees to wear pink, provided breast health education materials and the opportunity to make donations towards “Breast Cancer Supporter” merchandise.
The TMH Foundation CUPS fund provides mammography services to patients in Christian County who are underinsured or without health insurance. Since 2011, over $38,000 has been granted from the CUPS fund to cover mammograms and nearly $3,000 was used to support Taylorville Memorial Hospitals (TMH) digital software conversion of its 3D tomosynthesis mammography machine upgrade project. All told, donors have contributed over $50,000 to the CUPS fund to date.
“We are so grateful to be on the receiving end of this generous donation and enthusiasm exhibited towards supporting the CUPS program,” said TMH Foundation executive director Raedena Ryan. “CUPS is a true testament of how donors make a difference in the lives of patients at TMH. This program give anyone in our community, regardless of their ability to pay the opportunity to be proactive in breast health.”
TMH participated in Mammogram Mondays in October, a program funded by a $1,700 grant from the Memorial affiliate of Susan G. Komen. Once the grant money had been used, the TMH CUPS fund covered the rest. In October, 20 patients participated in Mammogram Mondays. While Mammogram Mondays is officially over, mammograms provided with the CUPS fund is available year-round to qualifying individuals by calling 217-824-1865.
