Salem Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 8.

Chief Sean Reynolds and Sergeant Kyle Ambuehl accepted two checks from members of Salem Elks Lodge #1678 on Thursday evening. The first check was for $1,500.00 for Salem FOP Lodge #333 and this years Shop with a Cop program. The second check was for $1,800.00 and will be used to purchase two new bicycles for the police department’s bike patrol unit. The bike patrol is instrumental when patrolling neighborhoods at night that are having residential or vehicle burglary issues. They are also utilized during the Little Egypt Parade. The Salem Police Department and Salem FOP Lodge 333 feels very fortunate to have the support of Salem Elks Lodge 1678. Because of their generosity, we will be able to provide many children with a happier and more blessed Christmas. And with the new bicycles, we will be able to provide better service to the citizens in our community. Thank you Salem Elks Lodge 1678!
