Report: Salem spent $10,942 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Salem Community High School District 600 is up 5.1 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Marion County school district spent $10,407 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $10,942 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 759 to 694.

Salem's spending in 2017-18 was 18 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
