Report: Gillespie spent $9,225 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Gillespie Community Unit School District 7 is up 3.6 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Macoupin County school district spent $8,903 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $9,225 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1330 to 1325.

Gillespie's spending in 2017-18 was 30.8 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
