Salem home prices fall in the third quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the third quarter of 2017 in Salem fell by $19,400 while total sales increased by 18.6%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through September of 2017, there were 51 homes sold, with a median sale price of $60,000 - a 24.4% decrease over the $79,400 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 43 homes sold in Salem in the third quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in Salem for 2017 was $1,283.78. In 2016, the median sales tax was $1,283.80. This marks an decrease of 0%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.1%.
