HSHS Holy Family Hospital issued the following announcement on April 2.
HSHS Holy Family Hospital’s Spirit Team organized a two-week food drive to help feed school children on the weekends. Colleagues filled an ambulance and a bus with over 4,000 items that were donated to the Bond County Weekend Backpack Program.
"I can't think of a better way to begin Ash Wednesday and the Lenten season,” said Stephanie Davis, speech therapist at HSHS Holy Family Greenville “This donation is a an example of how our hospital colleagues show Christ’s love through their actions. All of these goods were donated by Holy Family Colleagues and will be given to the families in need in the Bond County School District. My heart is full of joy that we were able to provide this donation to our community,” said Davis.
The Backpack Program feeds 85 in-need students over the weekend. A weekend bag that is sent home in students’ backpacks includes two drinks, two breakfast items, two lunch items, four snacks, a fruit and a vegetable. The program services Greenville, Pocahontas and Sorento students.
