City of Centralia issued the following announcement on July 15.
The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that the intersection of IL 161 and Shattuc Road will be closed for two weeks beginning July 26, 2019, at 6 AM. This closure is necessary to reconstruct this intersection. Traffic will be maintained utilizing a posted detour via IL 127, US 50, and US 51.
Motorists should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to the detour signs, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
The Contractor on this project is Plocher Construction Company, Inc. of Highland, Illinois.
