City of Trenton City Council met June 10.

CALL MEETING TO ORDER

The Regular Meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Brent Woods at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019.

ROLL CALL

Deien, Kniepman, Mohme. Sims, Weh, Woods All present

Also present were City Clerk Karen Buzzard, City Administrator Doug Brimm, Chief Chris Joellenbeck, Superintendent of Public Works Kurt Wehrle, Mark Brown, and Mike Conley of the Trenton Sun.

COMMENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS- ALDERMEN

On behalf of the Trenton Park Boosters Alderman Woods thanked the City for their efforts this past week for the Booster Bash. He knows this is a stressor on the public works and police departments and the Park Boosters appreciate all of the help.

COMMENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS – CITY STAFF

Mr. Brimm informed the Council that he received notice from Good Energy, the electric supplier for the City’s aggregation program that Ameren has re-set its electric supply rates for 2019. The Ameren summer rate (June – September) is $0.0456 per kWh and the non-summer rate is $0.0483 per kWh. Trenton’s aggregation rate is $0.05596 per kWh. With Ameren’s rate now lower that the negotiated aggregation rate residents can opt out of the aggregation by contacting Good Energy and giving them your name and address. Chief Joellenbeck stated that at present no one has a permit to solicit for electric supply. Anyone found going door to door without a permit will be issued a citation.

CONSENT AGENDA

Alderman Deien made a motion to Approve the Consent Agenda as read. Second Alderman Weh, all yes. Motion carried. The consent agenda included the minutes of the May 13, 2019 Regular Council Meeting, the minutes of the May 28, 2019 Regular Council Meeting, Bills for month of May 2019, and Payrolls for month of May 2019.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Alderman Deien made a motion to Approve Ordinance #1756 Approving Agreement Between the City of Trenton and 702 Land Trust for Tax Increment Finance Proceeds (Mannhard Hardware). Second Alderman Weh, all yes. Motion carried.

Alderman Weh made a motion to Approve the Renewal of $65,000.00 Equipment Line of Credit with Community Bank of Trenton for a 24- month period. Second Alderman Deien, all yes. Motion carried. This would be at a rate of 3.61%.

Mr. Brimm and Chief Joellenbeck had previously obtained quotes to repair our existing tornado sirens for a total of $6,310.10. They were tasked with investigating the cost of voice capable sirens and were given a loose quote of $125,000.00. Mr. Brimm said at this time we will move forward with the repairs of our current sirens. The two are also continuing to look deeper into our Code Red system. They have a webinar scheduled and hope to learn more features of the system we currently have. We know they system is capable of sending text messages and can be set to send automatic alerts. Alderman Kniepman said to contact Kyle Markus at Aviston. They have a code red system and have all of the automation set up.

Chief Joellenbeck informed the Council that ticket pricing is going up at the end of the month. A seat belt violation will now cost $164.00. The e-citation program will go into effect on July 1, 2019.

Alderman Mohme made a motion to adjourn. Second Alderman Kniepman. All yes motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
