Illinois State House District 115 issued the following announcement on Dec. 23

Dear Friend,

Before I sign off for the Season, I want to share a few items of note for you to know before the New Year!

NBC News reports on FOID Renewal Delays

NBC news Chicago has provided a very informative report that goes in depth into delays occurring in the FOID renewal system.

My offices in Mt. Vernon and Murphysboro assist law-abiding citizens with this issue on an almost daily basis. The Illinois State Police are hard working professionals trying to do the best they can with limited resources.

Sen. Schimpf Grants Degonia $100,000 for Pump Station

I was honored to join Senator Paul Schimpf in Jacob this week for the announcement of a $100,000 grant to Degonia Levee District for the purpose of a new pump station.

This will be very important in the future for flood control in the Mississippi river bottoms. I want to extend a BIG thank you to Mark Holt and Rita Van Pelt for their hard work and dedication to completing this effort.

A Special Gift from a Friend from Jonesboro

I was so happy to stop by Jonesboro Elementary school this week to pick up an awesome thank you gift from Mackenzie Barnhart. She served earlier this year as an Honorary House Page for a Day, and raised one of the hogs we purchased at a 4-H auction. She’s a hero to me!

Jefferson County Celebrates “Christmas for Cops” Annual Fundraiser

I want to take a moment to thank former Mt. Vernon Mayor David Keen, the Mt. Vernon Chamber of Commerce, and the many corporate, retail, and individual donors that made this year’s Jefferson County “Christmas for Cops” a huge success!

This year, 67 officers from the Mt. Vernon city police department, and the Jefferson County sheriff’s office received a monetary gift and shared in more than 2,000 Christmas cards written to thank them for their service by Mt. Vernon and Jefferson County elementary school students.

Below, I am pictured with Mark Hammer, a Lowe’s employee that uses his talents to make ‘thin blue line’ flags that he sells to raise money for Christmas for Cops. This is the 2nd flag I’ve bought from Mark – it is beautiful! Thank you Mark for your hard work and for donating your time and talent!
