City of Carlyle Water & Sewer Committee met Jan. 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Kent Newkirk on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 6:15 p.m. at Case Halstead Library located at 550 6th Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. Committee members present included Kent Newkirk, John Hodapp, and Michael Jansen. Others present included Jim and Becky Jaeger, Mark Hodapp, Don Perez, Joe Behrman, Andy Brackett, and Martha Reinkensmeyer.

After reviewing the minutes from the April 1, 2019 meeting, John Hodapp made a motion to approve the minutes. Michael Jansen seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

The first item on the agenda was a sewer backup on Lake Vista Drive. Andy stated that the sewer backed up at the residence located at 155 Lake Vista Drive causing damage to the basement. It was determined by Mideastern that nothing was wrong on the homeowner’s end of the lateral. The Water and Sewer Department then discovered a large root ball in the City’s sewer main. Andy asked the Committee how to proceed with the invoices for damage to the home. Kent stated that in the past the City has turned this into its insurance and what the insurance did not pay, the City paid. After a short discussion, John Hodapp made a motion to submit the homeowner’s damage to the City’s insurance and the City will pay what the insurance does not cover. Michael Jansen seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

There was no old business.

There was no new business.

There were no any other comments.

There were no public comments.

The sixth item on the agenda was executive session to review executive session minutes. It was determined that this could be done outside of executive session. John Hodapp made a motion to approve and open the executive session minutes from March 6, 2019. Michael Jansen seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

With no further business to discuss, John Hodapp made a motion to adjourn. Michael Jansen seconded the motion. Finding all in favor, the meeting as adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
