HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Breese issued the following announcement on Jan. 30.
HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese awarded Teresa Haake, RN, with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of The DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. Teresa was recognized for her calm demeanor and the encouragement she gave her patient during her labor and delivery.
“Nurses like Teresa make the birth process to be cherished and loved, shared the patient. She certainly made a difference for me, and I know she makes a difference with every single baby she helps deliver.”
“Teresa is a wonderful nurse and very deserving of this recognition, said Serra Morton, director of women and infants. Her caring and compassionate nature makes a difference for our patients, and we are blessed to have her on our team.”
Thirteen other nurses were recognized for being nominated for the DAISY Award:
Jessie Zimmer
Crystal Crews
Kyrsten Wisneski
Gerry Fehrmann
Elizabeth Terry
Julie Reed
Jeanne Thole
Kevin Schaubert
Desaree Lehr
Pam Carpenter
Marla Mensing

Additionally, just as a daisy cannot survive without a bee, nurses cannot survive without the outstanding teamwork provided by support colleagues. As such, Toni Kohrmann, RT of the cardiopulmonary department recently received the Being Extraordinary Everyday (BEE) Award.
Toni was recognized by a fellow colleague for going above and beyond and always willing to lend a helping hand. On several occasions she gave her time to assist with small tasks or to help with a patient. “She is a great example of true teamwork and is living the Mission,” shared the colleague.
“I am so proud of Toni, shared Laura Lemons, facilitator for respiratory therapy. “She truly is living the Mission of the hospital and it shows through her dedication and caring demeanor.”
Additional colleagues recognized for BEE nominations include:
Brad Korte
Mary Siebert
Cheryl Morr
Julie Kues
Brett Dempsey
Mary Hemker
