Village of Germantown President and Board of Trustees met Dec. 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The regular monthly Board meeting of the President and Board of Trustees for the Village of Germantown was held on December 17, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Those present included the following: Trustees: Ken Albers, Michael Albers, Ken Brauer, Jerald Schroeder and Brad Schroeder. Village President Duane Ripperda, Clerk Dawn Lakenburges, Village Attorney Aaron Epplin, Police Chief Jeff Wuebbles, Officer Dawson Huelskamp and Supt. Steve Mullins and were also present. Trustee Roger Rickhoff was absent.

The minutes of the previous month’s meetings were available for review. A motion to approve the minutes as presented was made by Trustee Ken Brauer, second by Trustee Ken Albers. Motion carried.

President Duane Ripperda thanked the employees for a great year and asked the Board for permission to treat the employees to a Christmas lunch. Trustee Mike Albers made a motion to cater lunch for the employees, spending up to $250. Trustee Jerald Schroeder seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Chief Wuebbles gave his report next. Wuebbles said the new speed zone sign is up and running. The PD will rotate the sign around town as needed.

Supt. Steve Mullins said he had nothing new to report this month. Village President Duane Ripperda thanked Mullins and his crew for the good job on snow removal.

Trustee Michael Albers, chairman of the Police & Health Committee, said the committee has met to discuss hiring a 2nd full-time police officer. The Village currently has two young officers who recently completed the Police Academy. Trustee Jerald Schroeder made a motion to hire an additional full-time officer. Trustee Ken Albers seconded the motion and the motion carried. Chief Wuebbles will interview both officers and make a decision. The officer will start as of January 1, 2020.

After a brief discussion, Trustee Ken Albers made a motion to adopt Ordinance 2019-15, AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES FOR CORPORATE PURPOSES FOR THE VILLAGE OF GERMANTOWN, CLINTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING ON THE 1ST DAY OF MAY 2019 AND ENDING ON THE 30TH DAY OF APRIL 2020. Trustee Ken Brauer seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Trustee Ken Albers made a motion to adopt Ordinance 2019-16, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 38-4-4 AND 38-4-14 OF ARTICLE IV, CHAPTER 38 OF THE REVISED CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF GERMANTOWN, CLINTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS. Trustee Jerald Schroeder seconded the motion and the motion carried. The ordinance increases water and sewer rates beginning January 1, 2020.

Trustee Jerald Schroeder made a motion to adopt Resolution 2019-07, the MFT expenditures for calendar year 2020. Trustee Ken Brauer seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Trustee Ken Brauer made a motion to adopt Ordinance 2019-17, AN ORDINANCE CREATING ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 33 OF THE VILLAGE OF GERMANTOWN, CLINTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS. Trustee Michael Albers seconded the motion and the motion carried. The ordinance creates regulations on Parades and Public Assemblies.

Trustee Jerald Schroeder made a motion to pay all bills as presented. Trustee Brad Schroeder seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Trustee Ken Brauer then made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Trustee Ken Albers seconded the motion and the motion carried. Meeting adjourned 8:30 pm.
