Village of Aviston Village Board met Dec. 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The special meeting of the President and Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday December 17, 2019 at 8:00pm in the Village Hall. In attendance were Village President Dale Haukap, Village Administrator Mike Buscher, Village Clerk Jennifer Jansen, Trustees Larry Harper, Mike Kampwerth, Gary Litteken, Kurt Schmitz and Kevin Eversgerd. Employees present included Mark Taylor.

1. GUESTS:

No guests present.

2. 2020 MUNICIPAL INSURANCE:

Mike Kampwerth stated the committee met and reviewed all bids, options, prices, etc. The committee recommended to go with Illinois Counties Risk Management for municipal insurance coverage. A motion to accept this recommendation was made by Kurt Schmitz, second by Kevin Eversgerd. Motion carried 5-0. Mike Kampwerth will contact Imming Insurance to inform them of the selection.

3. EMPLOYEE HEALTH INSURANCE:

Jenny provided information on new health insurance to the Board. The Board reviewed the packet and asked Jenny to follow through with some information from Kris Oster and report back to them. A motion proceed with health insurance, as is, was made by Kurt Schmitz, second by Gary Litteken. Motion carried 5-0. This will also be reviewed at the January meeting.

4. SELECTION OF NEW POLICE OFFICER:

Mark Taylor and Employee Committee members interviewed a new part time police officer. Kevin Eversgerd and Mark gave an overview of the applicant for the full board. A motion to hire Aaron Hutto as a new part time officer was made by Kurt Schmitz, second by Larry Harper. Motion carried 5-0.

5. APPROVAL OF ABSOLUTE ESTATES WATER TAP FEES/ ORDINANCE:

An ordinance was prepared and presented stating the water rates for Absolute Estates. A motion to approve the ordinance was made by Kurt Schmitz, second by Mike Kampwerth. Motion carried 5-0 by roll call vote as follows:

L. Harper – aye            G. Litteken – aye

M. Kampwerth – aye   K. Schmitz – aye

R. Peek – absent         K. Eversgerd – aye.

6. ROUTE 50 COALITION:

Mike Buscher and Dale attended the meeting a week ago and informed the Board that the State quit funding this a year ago but never told anyone. As of now this appears to be a dead issue for the Village.

Mike passed out some information from Henry regarding the Kalmer Drive issues for all to review.

Dale stated that Tom Luebbers will be quitting January 15th and we will need to find a replacement for him. Jenny is to advertise the position of cleaning person for the Vintage Hall in the January newsletter.

A motion to adjourn was made by Kurt Schmitz, second by Kevin Eversgerd. Motion carried 5-0. Time was 8:40pm.
