HSHS Holy Family Hospital issued the following announcement on June 2.
Safety guidelines implemented for customers, workers and donation of items
The HSHS Holy Family Thrift Shop reopened on Monday, June 1 with new safety guidelines to ensure that all customers and volunteer workers remain safe.
Thrift Shop is now open the same hours as previously:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesdays –10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturdays – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We are very glad to be reopening the Thrift Shop for our community members,” said Marian Embry, director of volunteers at Holy Family Hospital. “We will be following recommended Centers for Disease Control and Prevention social distancing and cleaning guidelines to ensure the safety of all who enter our building.”
Among those guidelines are the following:
All those visiting the Thrift Shop are required wear masks.
At the checkouts, people are requested to follow the marks on the floor to abide by social distancing requirements.
The dressing rooms are closed temporarily.
There will be a reduced capacity allowed in the building.
The Thrift Shop has also taken a number of steps to ensure a safe environment including installing a plastic guard at the check-out area and making hand sanitizer available for use at the jewelry counter and cash register area. Additionally, workers will be conducting more frequent cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces and shopping carts.
Embry shared, “We take the safety of our volunteers very seriously as well, so our volunteers will be required to take their temperature and self-screen for symptoms before coming into work. They will also be required to wear face masks and wash their hands frequently.”
For those who are interested in dropping off items, donations are being accepted by appointment only. To make an appointment to drop off items, either stop by the Thrift Shop or call 664-2728 between 10 a.m. and noon to obtain an appointment time. Appointments will be made for a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday morning.
All donations must be brought in non-returnable containers and will only be accepted at the back of the building at the appointed time and date. No loose items will be accepted, and the Thrift Shop will not accept any donations brought in without an appointment. At this time, only three containers of clothing or household items are being accepted at any one time, in addition to furniture and books.
