Analysis: Salem pays $4.63 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Salem FPD Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 82.3 percent of the $123,830 the Salem FPD Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $4.63 for every $1 from pension members, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Salem contributed $101,856 to the fund, which saw a $6,492 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $21,974, or 17.7 percent, in 2018.
