City of Greenville City Council met March 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to Order: A special meeting of the Greenville City Council was called to order at 5:32 p.m. by Mayor Alan Gaffner.

Roll Call: Present: Mayor Alan Gaffner, Councilman Bill Carpenter, Councilman Mike Heath, Councilman Kyle Littlefield and Councilwoman Lisa Stephens.

Also Present: City Attorney Patrick Schaufelberger, City Manager Dave Willey and City Clerk Sue Ann Nelson. Kingsbury Park District: Scott Crothers, Jerry Sauerwein, Doug Bohannon, Lou Anne Theis, and Barb Smith. Kelly Sager, HSHS Holy Family CEO, Jerry Gaffner, Hospital Board Chairman, Suzanne Davis, Greenville University EVP, Breck Nelson, Greenville University, Wes Olson, Bond County Community Unit 2 School Superintendent.

Pledge: The pledge of allegiance to the United States flag was recited.

Notice of Meeting: Notice of the special meeting having been given as provided by law, said meeting was called for consideration of the following agenda: 

1) Roll Call 

2) Pledge of Allegiance 

3) Public Comment 

4) Discussion of Community Recreational Center 

5) Executive Session: Purchase of Real Estate, Section 2 (c)(5); Sale of Real Estate, Section 2 (c)(6); of the Open Meetings Act Public Comment: With no comments being expressed, public input was closed.

Discussion of Community Recreational Center: Following efforts by the Kingsbury Park District to seek grant funding for a community recreational center, both KPD Board President Crothers and Greenville Mayor Gaffner wanted to explore what collaborative efforts may be possible to build a community recreational center. This meeting is the first step to general discussion with community stakeholders of the project. Representatives from the hospital, school district and university all voiced interest in various aspects of a community recreational center and expressed the desire to continue the dialogue to see what a collaborative effort may entail.

Recess to Closed Session and Adjourn: At 6:29 p.m., moved by Carpenter, seconded by Stephens, to adjourn to Executive Session for purchase of real estate and sale of real estate as outlined in the Open Meetings Act. Meeting was adjourned from closed session at 7:05 p.m.
