Illinois State Senate District 58 issued the following announcement on Aug. 11.
The following statement can be attributed to State Senator Paul Schimpf (R-Waterloo) regarding the failure of JCAR to reject Governor Pritzker’s proposal to enforce COVID-19 mask rules:
“I’m disappointed by JCAR’s failure to strike down the Governor’s rule to punish businesses for the actions of their customers, a rule that is clearly not supported by statute. The emergency rule-making process wasn’t designed to circumvent the legislature, and it won’t make people wear masks. If the Governor truly believes that he needs to change enforcement laws right now, he should go through the legislature by calling a special session.”
