Staunton Fire Protection District responded to 36 calls in 2018 - 16.3 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Staunton included 27 fires - 16 structure fires, three vehicle fires and eight other fires.

In all, the department saw $226,000 in fire loss - or about $8,370 per fire.

The department also received nine false calls.

The Staunton Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $345,140 in 2018.
