Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Protection District responded to 80 calls in 2018 - 42.9 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Brighton Betsey Ann included 63 fires - 23 structure fires, 13 vehicle fires and 27 other fires.

In all, the department saw $650,035 in fire loss - or about $10,318 per fire.

The department also received 17 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in non fire-related incidents.
