City of Centralia Recreation Board met Sept. 10.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
Roll call was taken at 12:00PM by Jack Graham
Board members present: Graham, Agee, Spann, and Garrett
City Staff: Gayla Harting and Mayor Herb Williams
Centralia Recreation Complex Representative: Sonya Germann and Scott Allen
Public Comment: No Public comment
Approval of Minutes: Dave Agee made the motion to approve the August minutes as presented and Ricky Garrett seconded the motion. The minutes were unanimously approved.
Chairman report: No report
Centralia Rec Complex Report:
1. Scott reported that reported that we have 72 players registered for Outdoor Soccer. We will have 4 teams of Youth soccer and 4 teams of Pee Wee soccer. The season will begin on September 18th and end on October 24th.
2. Sonya reported that the Kawasaki Mule has been recovered and it is at Salem ATV and More having an inspection done.
3. Scott reported that for Jr High Baseball and Softball they are able to play 2 games a week and no tournaments. We have 5 home games this year. There will be a regional but no State.
Centralia Youth Center Report –
1. Herb reported that they are having food giveaway every other Friday at the Youth Center.
2. Beginning next month on Friday nights they will be having Movie night on the Lawn. The first movie will be Black Panther.
3. September 26th they will have local artist Sydney Waithe and possible other artists for an Auction.
4. Tutoring will still be on Monday the 14th. They are low on staff so if anyone knows of someone please send them to Herb.
5. October they will be having a concert depending on the virus.
6. Trick or Treat will be on the lawn in October.
Old Business –
1. Gayla asked what the update was for the items that were stolen. Sonya reported that the Rotary Foundation and Centralia Foundation had met concerning the payment of the deductible. Sonya reported that not all of it had been completed but the two groups were going to work out the payment.
2. Sonya had a proposal from a group of Pickleball players requesting to be able to use one Tennis court for Pickleball. They have offered to donate the paint and labor to paint the court stripes on both sides of one court. After some discussion, Dave Agee made the motion and Jack Graham seconded. The board voted it unanimous. Mayor Herb Williams stated that would recommend this to the City Council.
