City of Centralia City Council met Aug. 31.

This meeting was conducted and attended as a full hybrid meeting. The City Council for Centralia, Illinois met for a special meeting. Mayor Kuder called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Kuder, Councilman Castellari, Councilman Smith, Councilman Griffin, & Councilman Jackson Absent: None
Staff Members Participating Physically at City Hall: Derek Sherman, Acting City Manager/Economic Development Director/Assistant City Manager; Gayla Harting, Community Development Director; Jeff Schwartz; Public Works Director; Michelle Liggett, Finance Director; Chief Dodson, Police Department; John Lynch Fire Department; Bill Agee, City Treasurer; William Smith, City Attorney; and Kim Enke, City Clerk
Staff Members Participating Electronically: None
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Vernell Burris addressed the Mayor and City Council to thank them for being compliant with wearing masks. He stated that he knows that what the Council is approving at this meeting will benefit our city and he knows that they will make the right decision. He stated that he supports them in their decision.
OTHER BUSINESS
Mayor Kuder stated that since July, the Mayor and City Council have been in a search for a new City Manager. He stated that there were approximately 20 applicants. He stated that they have done their due diligence with background checks and several interviews. He stated that the pool was narrowed from five to the top two. He explained that they are now willing to offer the position to Scott Randall. A motion was made by Councilman Smith and seconded by Councilman Jackson to Approve A Resolution Appointing A City Manager and Approving A City Manager Employment Agreement.
Ayes: Councilman Castellari, Councilman Smith, Councilman Griffin, Councilman Jackson, and Mayor Kuder Nays: None
A majority of the Council voting aye, the motion carried.
The oath of office was taken by Scott Randall. City Clerk Enke administered the oath to City Manager Randall.
Mr. Scott Randall stated that he is excited to assume the responsibilities as City Manager. He stated that this will be his 6th community as a City Manager after 40 years of experience in management. He stated that he will be starting tomorrow by meeting with the staff and scheduling one on one meetings with the Council Members as well.

A motion was made by Councilman Smith and seconded by Councilman Griffin to Adjourn The Meeting.

A majority of the Council voting aye, the motion carried, and the meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
