VII. ONGOING BUSINESS
1. Flag retirement with DAR – Final Report
a. Everything is good to go for the Sept. 11 Flag Retirement Ceremony.
2. DAR Flag Repairs
a. The commission thanked DAR and Stevens for their work on the flag repairs and it appears we have no more needing repairs at the moment
3. Flag Set Up
a. September 25th meet at the VFW at 6AM & we will leave the flags up until after Veterans Day
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
1. Veteran’s Day Planning
i. Usually, Sutherlands does a service, but the Veteran’s Affairs Commission doesn’t hold an event.
IX. OPEN DISCUSSION –
*Emeritus
1. Burris: Wants the VA Office Representative to come to a meeting & he would like the KC Veterans Office to come to a meeting.
2. Moran: Elmwood Cemetery has damaged VA plaques from maintenance. He suggested the city pays for replacement VA markers when they get damaged. Additionally, he suggested getting a rear discharge mower to help prevent lawn waste from dirtying the markers.
