Report: Salem School District spent $12,017 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Salem Community High School District 600 was up 14.8 percent from five years ago, according to the South Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Marion County school district spent $10,469 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $12,017 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 736 to 642 students over the same period.

Salem's spending in 2019-20 was 17.1 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
