The Millikin baseball team won its seventh straight game defeating the College of St. Scholastica 5-4 on February 28 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur.
For the second straight day, the Big Blue won in walk-off fashion. Pitch hitter Kelby Golloday had a one out single to start the ninth inning rally. Pitch runner Hunter Smith advanced to second on a wild pitch. Tommy Shaw walked and Liam McGill singled to load the bases. Frank Bryan delivered the game winning single to left field to driving home the winning run. Bryan scored the winning run on Sunday on a wild pitch.
Trailing 2-0, Garrett Fritz delivered a run scoring single in the first inning to get Millikin on the scoreboard. The Saints led 4-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth when the Big Blue tied the game with three runs. Bryan had a sacrifice fly to score the first run with another run scoring on a throwing error. Millikin tied the game on a ground out by Fritz.
McGill had two hits for Millikin and Bryan and Fritz each had two RBIs.
Mitchell Olson had two RBI for the Saints.
Millikin is now 7-2 and will host Greenville University on March 2 at 4 p.m.
