Analysis: Central A&M administrators rank 591st in state for average pay

Administrators in Central A&M Community Unit School District 21 earn an average of $92,598 per year, ranking 591st out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 21.1 percent higher than in 2016 and 0.1 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 16.8 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Central A&M School District in Shelby County enrolled 716 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 179 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
