Analysis: Bunker Hill administrators rank 610th in state for average pay

Administrators in Bunker Hill Community Unit School District 8 earn an average of $91,816 per year, ranking 610th out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 28.2 percent higher than in 2016 and 21.6 percent lower than in 2011. District administrators make 17.5 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Bunker Hill School District in Macoupin County enrolled 589 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 118 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
