City of Centralia Parks & Cemetery Advisory Committee met March 10

City of Centralia Parks & Cemetery Advisory Committee met March 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Patton, Agee, Border, Graham, and Young

CRC Ex Director Germann

CRC – Allen

City – Harting

Youth – Williams

Absent: Lawson and Garrett

Public Participation: None

Approval of Minutes: Butch Border made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and Young seconded. Motion carried with unanimously.

Treasurers Report: Report was given by Harting. Graham made motion to accept the report and Border seconded. Motion passed.

Monthly Reports:

1. CRD report

a. Scott Allen presented CRD report on the number of registrations at this point for the T-ball, Baseball, and softball leagues.

b. Scott Allen reported to the board that he has enough players for 1 team for the Clinton County League. The registration has been extended till the end of the month.

c. Scott reported that the Super Sonics have 2 girl softball teams that have paid for the summer, and they have begun practicing.

d. The Centralia High School girls’ softball has begun their season and at this time have 17 home games scheduled and will also hosting the Sectional.

e. Scott reported that the Adult Flag football league will be starting in April playing at Rotary Park. Jack agreed to assist in helping line the field the first time.

f. Scott and Sonya presented to the board that they are in the process of finding an app to be able to send out messages to all parents about upcoming registrations and information. Gayla mentioned the City uses Nexile. Sonya said she will call and inquire more information on Nexile. Sonya asked Gayla if the City has the ability to process online registration and payment and she explained that at this time they do not.

g. Sonya reported that the Tennis players are asking when the trees at the park were to be cut down. Gayla said she will call and find out.

2. Youth Center

a. Herb reported that the Youth Center just completed the Wall of Fame at the Youth Center, and it was well attended.

b. Herb reported that next month they will still have the Food giveaway. c. Youth Center still has the after-school tutoring program and are planning events for spring.

3. No City report

Old Business: None

New Business:

1. Gayla reported that the Juneteenth committee has had meetings and the date for the event is June18th. This committee will be responsible for cooking the hot dogs and chips. Gayla did mention that this year’s times may be changing. She will keep us updated on the event.

Melissa Patton made the motion to adjourn, and Young seconded the motion. The motion carried.
